In botany, a fruit tree is the fruit-bearing structure at the base of flowering plants which is generally formed by the ovary in a berry-like structure after flowering. The ovaries are embedded in the fleshy pulpy part at the base of the fruit. A berry is a fruit that has seed (no stem cells are present); these being enclosed in an edible covering called the pulp. Seeds can be of any size and are coated on the outer surface with sugar to assist in germination.
The commonest fruit trees are the mango, orange, lemon, strawberry, melon, peach, kiwi, pear and grapes while the most common fruit variety is the orange, peach, kiwi, strawberry, grape and orange. The seedless fruits are avocado, annato (gourd), pear, banana, cantaloupe, cherries, grapes and watermelon. All of these varieties can be eaten with the appropriate preparation of juices. Some of the commonly grown fruits include blackberries, strawberries, peaches, kiwi, pineapple, banana, apricots, nectarines, berries, apples, oranges, grapes and lemons. A large number of varieties of fruit trees are found in tropical regions all around the world.
One of the most common of all types of plant fruits is the banana, which is one of the most delicious and popular tropical fruit in the world. Planting bananas is a successful and easy process as they grow easily in many different countries and climatic conditions. Culinary fruit baskets are the other type of botanical fruits used for culinary purposes. A large variety of vegetables are available in such baskets, which include lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, onions, bell pepper, squash, asparagus and cucumbers. There are several varieties of culinary fruit plants available in markets.
The fleshy fruits are grouped under the class of berry. A large number of berry types like the watermelon, the citrus fruit, and the cranberry are classed under the berry category. These fleshy fruits have a bitter taste and they do not contain any valuable mineral contents. Many of the fruit have a slightly sweet taste, but they have low vitamin content.
The other major class of fruit includes the nuts. Nuts like almonds, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pistachios etc are considered as important dietary nut. They are high in protein, calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and many other nutrients. They are used in different forms like ice cream, cookies, cakes and muffins. To sum up, all the classes of fruit are essential to the diet of every human being.
