Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Smoothies

In botany, a fruit tree is the end-product of a berry-bearing shrub or plant that forms from the ovaries during flowering. The ovaries are contained in the acorn, which can be spherical and black or brown, depending upon species. As the acorn matures and decays it contains small black seeds, which in some species release wax or oily materials that settle on the undersides of the leaves. As the acorn is eaten by birds or animals, the seeds fall off and are carried away by the wind. A fruit tree then grows from the seeds.

One type of fruit that is not actually a fruit at all, but part of a flowering plant is called the capsule. Capsules contain seeds, and so are not truly a fruit. The scientific term for capsule is rhizome. To see capsule fruit, look at the bottom of a fruit shell and inside the capsule are the black, white or yellow seeds.

Many vegetables that we eat are products of a flowering plant. Some examples are beans, peas, potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli. In botanical definition a fruit is any substance that arises from a plant by means of its own reproductive process and is consumed by living things. The vegetable is a living thing and part of the plant. Flowers, leaves and sometimes seeds may be eaten.

Since fruits and vegetables are produced by living things, they can be digested more easily than other kinds of food. That is why many people believe that they have fewer calories than other foods because they are more easily digested. Fruits and vegetables are also easy to store. One can freeze fruits and vegetables or can put fresh fruits in airtight containers and keep them in a refrigerator. Many of today’s fresh fruits and vegetables come in pouches or blocks that need to be stored in a cool dark place for up to a year.

Because fruits and vegetables have different composition than a whole fruit and vegetable, it is important to eat a wide variety of vegetables. It is also beneficial to alternate the types of vegetable you eat every day. For example, you may eat a tomato every day, but you may also choose to eat a carrot or celery salad. In this way, your body receives a large number of nutritious nutrients. Vegetables are really beneficial to our body and should be included in our daily diets.
