There have been a lot of movies about Sin City, but none captured its actual history quite like Casino. The movie benefited from a great cast of actors, led by Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone in their roles as call girls Ginger McKenna and sleazy casino boss Sam Rothstein. James Woods was a nice addition to the cast as mobster pimp Lester Diamond, and his performance was one of the film’s most subtle highlights.

The film is not without its share of violence, but it is mostly used to set the scene and establish characters. The best sequence is a torture-by-vice scene that includes a popped eyeball and a baseball bat beating that is expertly edited and designed. The movie also has a number of more subtle, yet equally effective scenes of violence.

While the plot of Casino is not as tight and clear as that of other Scorsese mob films, it is still a compelling story. The cast is excellent, and the film’s atmosphere is highly realistic. It is a must-see for fans of this director and for anyone interested in the mob, organized crime, or the history of Las Vegas. It is a harsh and yet delicately balanced masterpiece that rises above anything petty. It is a testament that the talent of this director is unsurpassed.
