Health is a state of complete physical, emotional and social well-being where infirmity and illness are completely absent. The definition has been used over the years for different purposes. For instance, the health condition of an athlete can be compared with that of a healthy person. Likewise, to bring health one has to make it a practice to adopt a lifestyle that ensures the growth of the body in the right direction by eating healthy food, exercising regularly and engaging in some form of sport or physical activity at least thrice a week.
There are many aspects that contribute to the overall health status of a person. One of the major factors responsible for a good health status is the quality of the individual’s lifestyle, which can be brought about by adopting a healthy lifestyle consisting of good eating habits, regular exercises, consumption of organic food and taking part in some form of physical activity. Apart from these factors, having a clean environment, a comfortable sleeping place, sufficient sunshine and fresh air and maintaining cleanliness in and outside the home also contributes to a person’s well-being.
The definition of health has changed over time as it has also changed throughout the generations. It is important for us to understand that what makes us sick or ill affects our ability to live a happy and normal life. Mental wellness defines health by ascertaining the level of your ability to meet your basic needs and to help you cope with daily demands without any kind of disability. If you do not feel at ease with taking a bath, you cannot enjoy your meals, you will not feel confident going to work or school, you may experience headaches, stomach aches, insomnia or backaches and many other ailments and disorders. These negative effects on our overall health and wellbeing will further lead to an increase in morbidity and mortality rates.
